THE BIRTH
Your feelings of nervousness and excitement mount as this unique event – the birth of your child – approaches. Our well-coordinated team is prepared and at your service.
In our Maternity Ward we use the most up-to-date methods, which, in accordance with our holistic care approach, also encompass alternative techniques.
Your doctor will assume overall responsibility for the birth. The midwife will monitor the course of the birth and will offer you advice and active support. We are happy to take into account your desires in terms of your preferred birth position and we will support you as far as possible.
In the case where unforeseen complications arise, we are of course fully equipped with the necessary medical infrastructure to ensure the safety of both mother and child.
In the case of a Caesarean section, our Anaesthetics team will monitor your heart function and circulation. Under normal circumstances, a Caesarean section is performed under local anaesthetic. This enables you to experience the birth of your child in full consciousness.
After the birth or Caesarean section, you will continue to be cared for by a midwife in the Birth Room, where, in the presence of both parents, your child’s initial needs will be attended to. In a safe and familiar environment, you can breastfeed your child for the very first time.
For more information on the subject of the birth, please see the chapter entitled Birth and Your Stay at the Clinic.
